What are the results of an enlarged kidney?

Our blood aunt died several years ago and we were told the only thing unusual found in the autopsy was that she had an enlarged kidney.  She had either a bladder or kidney infection when she was admitted to the hospital on a Tuesday and she died late Saturday night.  She was definitely sick when she went to the hospital, but nobody indicated that she was THAT sick.  Do  you have any suggestions as to the reason for her death.  I do not know what medications she was given, if any.  An attempt to insert an IV on Saturday morning failed, because by that time her veins had collapsed.

Yes she most probably went septic. If a kidney is obstructed the waste can not leave the body and goes into the blood. Why was the kidney enlarged?? Did she have a stone? I will keep her in my prayers and I am very sorry for your loss. Cara
