MY TWO YEAR OLD SON HAS SWOLLEN LYMPH NODES. ONE AT THE BASE OF HIS SKULL AND ONE ABOUT TWO INCHES BELOW IT (BOTH ON THE LEFT SIDE). HE WAS PUT ON A 10 DAY COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS (IC CEPHALEXIN 250 MG/5 ML SUSPTEV). QUITE A BIT OF SWELLING HAS GONE DOWN. WE THINK THE LYMPH NODE MAY HAVE BEEN INFECTED.(THIS WAS WITHIN THE PAST TWO AND HALF WEEKS. NOW, I NOTICED A BALD SPOT ABOUT THE SIZE OF A DIME. I CHECKED THAT AREA BECAUSE THE NIGHT BEFORE HE WAS SCRATCHING IT LIKE CRAZY AND HIS SCALP FELT HOT..OH YEAH, HE ALSO HAD A FLU SHOT TWO DAYS PRIOR. IT IS ABOUT 1 1/2 INCHES ABOVE HIS LEFT EAR...SAME SIDE AS THE LYMPH NODES BUT UP HIGHER AND ABOUT THE EAR AREA....IS THE BALD SPOT RELATED TO LYMPH NODES, THE ANITBIOTICS OR POSSIBLY THE FLU SHOT?
Hi.
Does the node in the groin, feel similar to the node in the armpit?
Generally, you need to think about any infections in the contiguous areas. For the groin, do you recall infections, abnormal discharge in the vagina? ulcers on the labia? For the armpit, wounds on the arm?
If they are pretty small the doctor may not have deemed them significant for the biopsy.
The report on the colonoscopy is not really specific for anything. It only implies an inflammation, which may occur with something as common as infectious diarrhea.
Keep consulting with your doctor and stay positive.
My best to you
Hi Amy,
Unfortunately, I can't shed any light on your situation, but I want to ask a question. How were you able to tell that you had swollen lymph in your groin? How do they feel and are they visible externally or did you need a doctor to diagnose them? My groin area has felt funny the past couple of days and I'm hoping that it has nothing to do with swollen lymphs, but I cannot tell. Kinda don't want to go to a doctor because I don't know what the examination would be like.
Any assistance you can give would be appreciated.
