Has anyone every had an SUV of 3.2 or over in a lung nodule that turned out to be benign?

Hi Lorrie

I had a tumour that was sort of split into 2 and the SUV of one part was about 3.2 and the other 1.7.
Had a lobectomy (for probable lung cancer) and am delighted to report that the pathology came back and it's TB. That's benign!

I have started my tretment this week, which is greatly reduced due to the fact that I had the surgery.

Best of luck,

Hi, Peggy,

Isn't a lobectomy removing part of the lung?  If they had run a TB test first,I wonder if that would have been necessary.  Anyway, good news it was benign!  Right now, my lung nodule is on the back burner, for they have found lymphadenopathy in my abdomen and I have to go for a biopsy hopefully next week.  The oncolologist wasn't too encouraging.  He was leading more to malignant than benign because of the high SUV score on the PET.  I hope if it is cancer it is lymphoma that they can treat, but I have no symptoms of lymphoma.  Wishing you well.  Thanks.

Hi lorrie

Yup, they removed the upper right hand lobe....big op but I am ok now. I wasn't tested for TB as I had no other symptoms...but had lived in South Africa for many years. Of course I am relieved! Check out my previous theads....
The biopsy should be help in knowing what they're dealing with and start treatment asap.

Good luck...and please keep in touch!
