thanks again for your stellar information.
Hi,
The size of the cancer could affect the symptoms. In general something smaller than a centimeter wouldn’t have any symptoms at all. Hence, it may indeed be more logical to look for another reason why you are having your symptoms. Perhaps a change in your exercise routine would be in order. Stay positive.
Thanks doc. The nodule is .8 ? I believe. I was just concerned because of some chest pains exasterbated during some breaths. After a through exam by my primary today, she believes it muscle strain for some ab exersizes. thanks again amd I've had no weight loss or bloody sputums cough etc..
Hi,
There are symptoms that would be related to the immediate vicinity of the nodule. If it is near the larger airways, it may have a propensity to bleed, to cause obstruction and produce breathlessness. There are also symptoms that are related to substances secreted by the cancer that affects metabolism, so some patients may present with weight loss. If the nodule is stable for 8 years, then this is a good sign. Actually, the usual criteria would be stability over a 2 year interval, so the likelihood that this is cancer is low. How large is the nodule anyway? Stay positive.
