Patchy Hair Loss with Lupus

I was recently diagnosed with Alopecia Areata and through research i noticed Lupus patients suffer from "unusual hair loss". I have a rather large patch on the back of my head and i wonder if i need to be tested for lupus.

One of the symptoms of lupus is hair loss.  But it is one of many.  Now if you had a rash on your face, mouth ulcers, swollen painful joints, severe fatigue, and severe headaches I would say you might want to ask your doctor to test you.  

Other things that can cause hair loss is STRESS!  My sister the barber says over processing your hair can cause it to fall out.  From memory, hormonal changes like too much estrogen (which we get plenty of from plastic and pesticides on our fruit and veggies), and thyroid trouble can cause hair loss.
