I am a 23 year old female with enlarged lymph nodes. I had them biopised and it was all benign. They then did a ANA test for autoimmune disease and it came up positive 1:160. My docto rmentioned that sometimes that test is a false positive and depending on the rest of the results in a few days she will know more. No one in my family has lupus and I have no symptoms other than palpable lymph nodes where most doctors tell me is nothing. I am starting to feel dizzy but I think its because I am very very anxious about my results. What causes lupus? Does it sound like I have lupus or is this another autoimmune disease? Are there natural cures for autoimmune diseases because i have heard there are. please any info would help does it sound like I have lupus?
I'd be anxious about the results too! I had vertigo really bad for about 6 months this year, they never did find out what was causing it... but as it started to go away, I notice that when I got really stressed it seemed to come back; so best wishes with that.
There are some great gals in the lupus forum (it doesn't affect men nearly as frequently). I'm sure they'll be on her before too long and you'll get more feedback! I don't know of any 'natural cures' for lupus or autoimmune diseases. But with anything else, it's likely that a diet with lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, exercise when you can, rest consistently sleeping 7-8 hours each night, and I've found B vitamins to be very beneficial with any joint or tendon pains. I've also found that when my joints get really achey (achy) it's best that I avoid night shade plants, i.e. potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant, as they're known to aggravate our joints with lupus & arthritic types of conditions.
Though I don't meditate any more, it's also highly recommended for autoimmune conditions. Check back in this weekend ~ I'm sure you'll get more 'test focused' replies to your questions. Best Regards ~
thanks for your reply although I'm a little confused do you have lupus or u dont? I dont have achy joints or muscles in fact I feel great so idk why this test is positive. The only symptoms I have are tiny palpable lymph nodes but several of them.
It doesn't sound like it, if all you have a sore lymph nodes then I wouldn't worry just yet. I had a lot of pain in most joints, swollen lymph nodes, several high positive ANA's thinning hair, fever's, hurt to breath; I have about 8-9 out of 11 Lupus symptoms. Does you have the butterflu skin rash or any skin rash? There are a lot of different autoimmune diseases, so don't stress yet. I wouldn't even suggest reading much about it yet because that can scare you, so wait and see what the Doc says, ask him to repeat the blood tests over a period of time. There is no cure, just meds to control it.
Yeah ~ mine's discoid lupus. Mine started with massive hair loss and a sinus infection and enlarged lymph nodes that would not respond to any treatment. And I'm in a flare... complete with all of the achy joints, etc. Even the lesions on my face hurt ...really BAD. Hope you're doing well ~ Best wishes to you too MyTau!
I'm lucky I have thick hair, and my hair loss isn't so noticeable. Except in the bathroom or hair brush; before I found out what I had it was scary. I knew something was wrong but all my old Dr would do is treat the pain I guess I was lucky she did that; at least now I know what I have and I know as long as I follow that Dr it doesn't mean an automatic early death.
