I am sorry to hear about your pain.  I don't have any suggestions but just wanted you to know I was thinking of you and hope your pain goes away soon.

This response is probably too late, but I will tell you what I do whenever I have a flareup. I make sure and drink more fluids, get more rest, tell everyone else in the house/the family that I'm in a flareup and need to rest, avoid all stress, and pamper myself. The other thing I do is automatically increase my prednisone (I've already been instructed to do so by my doctor; do not do this unless your doctor advises it), and I make sure I take my medications precisely on time. (I suffer from chronic pain anyway and am on hydrocodone and morphine.) If none of this helps me get on top of things, I begin alternating Advil, Tylenol, and Aleve, being very careful to not overdose on those. Within a couple days, the flare subsides. The longest my flares last are usually 4 days. I get really down and depressed, but sooner or later, it's over and I can get back to normal. Oh, very gentle exercise sometimes helps. Please take care!

I have pain  everyday. But I don't take prednisone because i have such horrible reactions that in that case it safer for me and the world if I don't take it. Does your Dr have you on any type of antiflamitory?? I am not up on the drugs for those because i am not allowed to take them due to a stomach ulcer, but when the pain medication just doesn't seem to be working for me i sneak a few advil now and then but not to often because stomach ulcers really really hurt. Advil is an antiflammitory so i do find it helps a bit.
