Sleeping

Just curious- does anyone else have a hard time staying on their left side at night??? I always fall asleep that way but when I wake up during the night I am mostly on my back. Is anyone else having this problem. Should I be worried about this???

im so glad its not just me, i seem to be surviving on between 2-3 hours sleep a night, partly bathroom breaks partly just can't sleep, even if im soo tired i can't keep my eyes open i don't manage more than a few hours.
i usually sleep on my right side but have tried this left side stuff, but i don't know if anyone else had this but if i turn and sleep on my back i wake up very dizzy like the whole room is spinning, apparently its something to do with pressure but im not fully understanding it, all i know is that it feels very frightning when it happens.
ive tried some of your suggestions, ie pillows in between the legs but always wake with the pillow on the floor or at the bottom of the bed?
short of tieing it around my legs im not sure i can ever get the hang of this, i keep telling myself im getting ready for all those disturbed nights to come LOL

Thanks for all the input =) I am going to try not to worry about this too much.  never lay on my tummy- I dont think my growing bump would let me. I will just correct the problem as much as I can. Now if I could only get a full nights sleep... lol

I have the same problem, and I never ever used to sleep on my back!I was always a stomach sleeper and preferred the right side. I bought a pregnancy pillow and started using it around 10 weeks to train myself to stay on the left side, but I always find myself on my back!! Although, I must spend a lot of time on my left side because I am feeling sciatica pains on my left side already. I am sure it will get easier to stay on our left side when our tummies our really swollen!

Hope everyone is enjoying their pregnancy!
Happy sleeping :-)

that would be me! i wake up on my back and try to get back onto the left side, but sometimes the right side just feels better. i'll sleep that way for awhile but then force myself to go back to the left. it is tough some nights, but others i sleep on my left side for hours without moving! i think my bathroom breaks in a strange way actually help me stay on the left.

last night i slept on my back a lot. it isn't really the most comfortable, except when my legs need a break to be in a more stretched out position.

i asked my doctor about this awhile back and she told me that the left is preferred (of course), followed by the right, followed by back, then stomach. she told me not to worry about waking up in other positions, just to correct it or find a more preferred position than the one i'm in.

i think once the baby get bigger, the left side will be the only one that feels right.. hoping to train myself better before that happens.

good luck and hope you sleep well :)

What sleep??  LOL!! Since getting pregnant I am lucky to sleep for a couple hours at a time without getting up to use the restroom or just waking for no reason. As far as the side thing...I switch between right and left and am more comfy with a pillow in between my legs. Doc said it is not good to lay flat on your back during last two trimesters (especially if your a big gal like me..lol) so he recommended putting a pillow behind your back so if you start to roll it will stop you or at least make you uncomfortable enough to change positions. This might work if you put a pillow in front of your tummy so you dont roll on your belly. I would ask doc just to be sure it will be ok though.
