Partial molar pregnancy

Hi, I really hope you can answer my questions, I have been to three doctors and no one will give me a straight answer.  I am 25 years old and had a miscarriage 2-17-99.  The pathology reports have come back as a suggested partial mole.  Since then I have been testing my HCG levels every week, week1 641,  week2 188,  week3 147,  week4 124, week5 176,  week6 167,  week7  150,  week 103.  Help! what does all this mean.  My OBGYN sent me to an oncologist due to the slow decrease in numbers, he thought maybe they would put me on methotrexate, the oncologist says that as long as the numbers decrease he sees no reason for medication..who is doing the best thing for my future and having children.  I really want to put this whole thing behind me, but with being tested every week how can I.  Also, my catscan and chest xrays have come back normal.  The only thing they picked up was a very large cyst on my right ovary (8cm)  The dr. says it should go away on its own, Do you think it has something to do with the molar pregnancy?  One more question, It has now been 8weeks since the D&C, and I still haven't had a menstrual cycle, is this normal?  I did however stain for 2days, but it wasn't heavy, and I did have cramping.  Again my dr. says don't worry.  But I am I really am scared that this whole thing will interfere with my future and having kids.Im sorry this is so long but I am desperate for answers, I thank you for your time

Dear Kimberly:
A partial hydatidiform mole burrows deeply into the wall of the uterus and the D&C is unable to remove all of the cells. The normal body systems will clear these cells from the uterus and the declining hCG level is indication thatthis is happening. If a process can resolve without need for drugs that have side effects, this is the best route.
There are circumstances where medicine can create a quick solution to a problem. There are other times when there are no quick fix options: this is an example of of the latter.
Ovarian cysts are a common observation with high hCG levels and hydatidiform pregnancy in all its variations. The cysts resolve as the hCG level declines.
The hCG level prevents the resumption of menstrual function. The absence of cycles is expected.
