I am writing this for a friend of mine who i very concerned about her 6 year old grandson.
Aaron is extremely hyperactive or ADHD.  He is on Ritilan and just lately the doctor has raised his dosage
again.  His mother has noticed that his eyes or eyelids have began twitching.  Concerned she spoke with the doctor
who has temporarily stopped his medication just to see if the twitches stop.  According to my friend the
twitching has stopped.  She worries that Aaron will not be able to take this medication and knows that the
teachers will definitely have problems with him at school.  One school just plain said that they could not control
him because he was so hyper.  Are there any alternatives as far as medications for an extremely child if they
cannot take ritlan.  I myself have 2 teenage daughters who have ADHD and one of them has been on ritilan
and is now on dexedrine and paxil.  However she is not so much physically
hyper, hers stems more toward being unable to focus her mind and be able to keep it where
it should be.  With a child who is both unable to focus and physically over-
active, where does a mother turn especially if he is developing a sensitivity to his
medication?  Please give us any advice that you may have that will point us in the
right direction in giving Aaron what he needs and the chance at an education which he deserves.
