tip for new mom

So I tried to post this earlier, but somehow it went in a different group. Probably operator malfunction. Anyway, there is a gal with a 5 month old who found his lower lip. He doeant like pacifiers at all. His lip is so chapped and raw. She also tried frozen washcloth and teething toys. Any other ideas?

Tomorrow is right! My oldest son did this amd still has issues.. he loved chewing and sucking his lower lip over anything else. It became so chapped at one point (7 months old ) that drinking a bottle caused pain.. dr gave me the ok to use blistex lip balm.  Have her keep his lips clean and try to get him from picking. It can and will spread to other areas. Not fun... hard to do with a 5 month old since hands are always in mouth lol.

And another trick I have done ( make sure it is firm and clean ) are carrots. Hold it and watch them. But letting them suck on a carrot seems to help. Its cold and solid and has a texture that seem to be wonderful. Frozen anything I have learned can hurt due to being too.cold.

I've seen babies do this at work. All you can do is keep introducing other things to suck on. I would also put something like unscented unflavored lipbalm multiple times a day. Odds are that this phase won't last long because he'll learn something new and move on to that. Another thing she should do is keep an eye out for infection, like it starting to spread further on his face.

Wow, i've never heard of that before, so i don't really have any advice, but there's got to be something that can help. Maybe it's just a phase? Maybe with it becoming so sore he might just stop?
