dumb question

I've seen a lot of post where people say the had their membranes scraped... what is that? What do they do? Does it hurt? And why do they do it?

It doesn't really hurt but ibis pretty uncomfortable. My dr ended up inducing me the day she stripped mine so I don't know of it worked or not.  They don't strip them until right at the very end of pregnancy and from what I've heard most women go into labor within a day or two of having theirs stripped.

When u are very close to your due date they will do it to try and speed things along.

It was very painful for me..but it did work

I think its when the plug is removed by the doctor. That's what I picture when described in others posts.
