Did I make the right choice?

My son who is 2years 4months old is not circumsized and yesterday he said peter hurt(penis) ,it  wasnt red or swallen ,now  today it was a little red ,I put him in the bath to soak ,didnt help and proceeded to get worst ,his peter is totally red and swallen .I took him to emerg. the doc said he most likely had a erection and has tared the skin from the penis and it is causing his penis to swell and cause him this pain .he perscibed a cream for it (Micatin)and said if it doesnt get better within a week bring him back.does the happen a lot and should i concider getting him circumsized.

I came acrsoss a posting narrating that foreskin is important.it carries lot of nerve endings and foreskin protects glans.gflanss' sensitivity is maintained by the foreskin.much more detals are given in that posting.Pleas search it in this website.Imp. If the foreskin is retraced and cleaned while bathing it woul cause no problem. The foreskin should be retraceable. it is to be circumsised only if it is not retraceble.

just remember this being uncircumsized may bring penile infections and other problems along down the road. I'm not a doctor or anything im just a 20 year old male, but we men have to live with what our parents give us when were that young. Also consider that when an uncircumsized procedure is done, its done at birth reason being is becuase the baby skin is alot more soft and that trauma is done wiht.
Your son will probably go through more pain now than he would have 2 years and 4 months ago.

Hope this helped.

Go to a different doctor.  You wouldn't maim a girl, don't do it to a boy.

I really don't understand the American obsession with having most boys circumcised.  Nature created us with a foreskin, plenty of countries around the world (including the UK) don't circumcise as a matter of course, and it rarely causes any problems.

I hope this cream does the trick and your son's 'peter' is better soon!
