Embarrissing Question

so to be perfectly honest im about to be 16 and im uncircumcised. i've never actually pulled the foreskin back and washed my penis before, as i've never been taught how to do this. im actually afraid to do it. lately i've noticed  a kind of odor down there, i dont want this problem to effect my future sex life. i think circumcision would be the best procedure right now but im afraid to tell my parents because we dont have that close of a relationship.  im the ONLY male in  my family that is uncircumcised.
