Frequent Deep Breaths?

When i went to bed last night, i noticed that i kept having to take deep breaths every 2 minutes or so. Not like supper deep breaths, almost like i sighed every couple of minutes. Other than that, everything else felt fine. When i woke up this morning it was still happening, but it only seemed to happen if i thought about it. Could it be in my head. Maybe its becuase im tired? (Almost like when you yawn? I have been yawning a lot today too). I was up until 2am yesterday so i think this could be a possibility? I have never had asthma or any other breathing problems so it seems unlikely that something severe could develop in a period of about 3 minutes. Tonight i will try to go to be early and see if it still happens in the morning. Anybody else have this problem or know what it is?
Thanks

i had them too, i didn't go to the doctor about it but always went to bed thinking there was something wrong with my heart or i had cancer or something, i went and got a check up on everything and everything came back clear, suddenly they stopped, i believe it was a pannic attack, happened for ages with me, its a horrible feeling, but tend to be ok when i am occupied.

get it checked but would suggest its anxiety if you ask me

I had the same problem, my Dr assumed I was having a panic attack but with no history of anxiety it seemed an unlikely diagnoses. He gave me Diazepam and told me to take one every time this happened. the diazepam helped in that the breaths I was having to take were less frequent and I wasn't having to breathe quite so deeply to feel like I'd taken in sufficient air.

So perhaps it was the late night and tiredness that added to your stress level? The body reacts to stress in many different ways, so perhaps this is yours.

Hope this helped.

I am experiencing the same issue: I feel the frequent (every few minutes) need to take a deep breath and it's been going on for a week or so. I've gone jogging a few times in the last week and didn't feel particularly out of breath when I did that -- if anything it felt like things improved during exercise. It's very strange -- any advice would be appreciated.

It's fall. You may developing an alergy to something in the air. I had this same sort of thing happen to me this spring. All of a sudden, it seemed I was out of breath just talking. I either needed to yawn or take a deep breath. I had no infection and was able to ride my bike. It went away after a few weeks. Very puzzling.
