Kelo;

First, yes, he needs to go to the doctor right now.  My dad almost bled to death from what you are describing.  Is he more scared of a cancer diagnosis or dying?  That's what he has to ask himself.

While he's getting ready for the doctor visit - please give more detail on the bleeding:

1.)  Is it from his penis or his anus?
2.)  Is it bright red, dull red, black?
3.)  Is it liquid, semi-solid, solid?
4.)  How much is there?  Enough to tint the bowl pink?
5.)  Is the blood in the bowl or on the toilet tissue, or both?

Please also include more details even if we haven't asked them - more information is much better than less.

Bleeding is no joking. Scared or not about the diagnosis, he should absolutely see a doctor. It may be nothing serious that will soon be forgotten, but in the other end there is... you know what. And an early diagnosis can save lifes.

In this case my advice is to support him as much as you can to even temporarily surmount his fears and have him be checked by some specialist.

Let me repeat myself: (heavy) bleeding is not a joke!
