Antibiotics do not work to treat fungal infections - in fact they can encourage yeast overgrowth and the condition could become much worse.

Natural yogurt works too, because it has the good bacteria that keeps the fungus at bay.  Coconut milk also contains antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.

What is the difference between the normal cider vinegar and the one with "mother" in it?  I have not come across this product before.  Where do you get it from?

Cider vinegar mixed with honey (and water, I nearly chocked without the water) is said to be good for arthritic problems.  I felt no difference.

I am prone to getting fungal infections due to be diabetic, so would be interested to try it out myself.

Best wishes.

You know what really helps me?
And, I have been getting better results from this than taking antibiotics.

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WITH 'MOTHER'.

Yup, the stuff you get from the grocery store. But, make sure it says, "with the mother" added.  Drink 3 teaspoons of this daily with or without water and watch it just plain work.  I got this idea from Earthclinic. Good luck!

You need to adhere to strict good hygiene, wear cotton clothing and nothing tight.

Don't use normal soaps, use the ones that have the same pH level as our skin or non perfumed soap.

You may have an allergy to latex, so only use latex free condoms.

Eat a healthy and well balanced diet and eat natural live yogurt.

Get a blood test done to check your sugar levels.  Pre diabetes, diabetes and glucose intolerance with uncontrolled higher than normal sugar levels in the blood encourages yeast overgrowth.   Ask your doctor to send you for a glucose test, or a blood test to check your HbA1C levels.

See your doctor and ask for a skin swab to be taken as well as a mouth swab.  This will help to identify that you do have a fungus.
The doctor can prescribe different creams, sprays and/or oral capsules to take.  If you have oral thrush, then specific antifungal medications are used for oral thrush.  You can purchase Daktarin for mouth thrush from the pharmacy, but any other then your doctor has to prescribe.

You can purchase capsules that you take by mouth from the pharmacy - 100mg or 200mg Fluconazole - this is a single dose capsule.  If you have long term and severe fungal problems, your doctor can prescribe Itraconazole or the Fluconazole for much longer use.

If you have down below problems, don't bathe with bath or shower gels.  Epsom salt baths with baby oil or coconut oil can help.  Epsom salts is very drying to the skin so you will need some oil.  You can purchase Epsom salts from the web, the pharmacy won't have a large quantities of it.  You will need to put in 2 or 3 large cupfuls into your bath water and soak in it.  Epsom salts contains magnesium which is absorbed through the skin and is good for us.  Epsom salts will neutralise the pH level of your skin which the bugs do not like.

Coconut oil has antibacterial, anti fungal and anti viral properties and can be applied to the skin, used for cooking backing and you can also eat it off the spoon.  Only buy the Virgin coconut oil.

As a home remedy to help ease the discomfort of fungal problems, you can apply natural yogurt.  There are no side effects from using this.

Make sure that your sexual partner is clear from fungal problems, otherwise you will just get it back.

Be aware that if you use antibiotics, they destroy your good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria and this in turn encourages overgrowth of fungus.

As you have had a long term problem with this, it may take many months to get to the point of keeping it under control.

Make an appointment and get checked out by your doctor or go and get checked at the GUM clinic to make sure that your problem is a fungal one and not an STD.
