Itchy Scrotum in night

For the last 10 months I'm having itching between my scrotum and penis only in the nights.   May be I scratched a lot,  I have constant mild pain in that region behind testicles.

I don't see any rashes, bruises, or any swelling.

What is causing this night time itching of genitals, which is causing some constant pain as well?

These days I'm not sexually active, had cleared the STD tests in the past.

Hi Spike so you said you shave? then you say you only cut at the lowest level, well goodman knows didly squat about us who shave, and if you shave as offen as you shave your face you get no problems with as he says movement in hairs, and always shave downwards the same way your hairs grow, then you get know problems, but I would still rate an STD clinic as a good starting point, these people work with these things all the time, they are exsperanced in this field, so its up to youeither go to an exspensive uro or demo or the clinic.
And if your a real man try some raw alcohol, it will kill anything that moves, but hold your breath and hold your testicals after.

I am still running with the chance of it being from shaving - short hairs are like little antennas that pick up any type of movement - and believe me, it will feel very real - and since you're focused on it, it will be magnified.  Any "new" hair growth would also be enough to drive some people insane.

However - it never hurts to get a professional opinion.  If it were me, I'd go straight to a dermatologist - I would have to think that a urologist would be more geared towards the inside parts and your concerns are on the surface.

This is a long shot - but have you tried a benadryl cream, in the event that it's an allergy of some sort?

J, Thanks for clarifying a bit.   Shave, I meant, it is more trimming to the lowest level, and I have never accidentally had any cuts as well.

I have a strange sensation (tickling? or something moving? or numbness?) below the bottom of the penis and the top of the scrotum where the penis and scrotum joins.   The sensation very mild, and I can not exactly say that something is crawling.   This happens during day time as well.  However the itching starts exactly in the same place after midnight.

What I'm saying is real.     Are there any other thing that can cause this strange sensation?

Who can diagnose this problem exactly, an urologist or dermatologist?
What are the possible diagnostic tests I should check with the doctor?

This is very similar to what I've dealt with to varying degrees for years except the scratching ends up causing bleeding and redness as well as a sort of scarring along one side of scrotum underneath (taint region) as is more leathery and lighter in color.
Have tried cortisone creams anti fungals, gold bond, tea tree and oregano oils etc all to varying degrees of success. Thing that helps best is extremely hot water I shower to point of almost burning.    Used to use blow dryer but that dried and cracked the skin worse.
Am pretty hairy guy but the area that inches I don't shave so shaved or ingrown hairs isn't the issue. Wish that was it and I'd just get waxed or something.

Spike,

I'm glad you clarified - hey, this is the thing - being that you mention that you shave - there is a very good chance that it's either irritated skin or the subtle results of hair regrowth.  Drove me nuts when I learned that lesson.

It doesn't sound like you have anything "visually identifiable" - unless there are other variables not being shared, I don't believe you have a problem whatsoever - just stop shaving down there for a while!! =)

Doesn't hurt to get some medicated jock powder - I wouldn't use talc - that can actually be very irritating.

Now, lol - even though I DOUBT the following applies as it's been the better part of a year ... and to ease your mind a little - if it were crabs, by now?  You would have been itching and picked one off - thinking it was a scab - and you'd see tiny moving little legs - then you'd look closer and find more of them - and you'd be totally creeped out.  I think you can cross that one off the list.  You'd be so infested that you'd be finding them in your undershorts, in your bed, on your person.

If it were scabies, within weeks they would have spread - you'd have a rash that would make you wonder if you had hives, dermatitis, or poison ivy - and they would have eventually blistered - and left you in a state of confusion because they're naked to the human eye.  They'd spread to your torso, hands/fingers, forearms, etc - and within a couple more weeks you'd be afraid to leave the house and would probably be stuck there anyway, in an OCD cleaning frenzy.  If you were one of those rare people who didn't have a reaction to the scabies, then by the 10 month mark - you'd have crusted scabies and you'd look like you were covered in dried-out mud (literally).

DO NOT go medicating yourself for these ailments that you don't have - the results of some of these pesticides that are used to treat these problems can lead to long-term skin irritation that can be more severe than the medications they're indicated for.

Regards,

J

Hi Spike, You now saying scabies, did you bother to google it, and if you looked for scabies symptons, you would have found out that they burrow to lat there eggs, so if you have no burrow marks then it wont be them, your best and cheapest way out would be just ask a pharmacist, at the end of the day they are just doctors and do the same exams, they need to know how tom treat people just the same as a doctor, except they make the drugs to dish out to the doctors patiants or should say used to, there knowledge is just as good and free.

I googled for crabs.    I guess it doesn't stay that long.   More over I keep my pubic hairs shaved, clean and neat always.

While I was searching in google,  I see scabies can cause itching in the night.
Does anyone has had scabies for such a long time, and how it is diagnosed and treated?

The itching is really unbearable in the night for me.  I'm planning to visit a urologist shortly.

Hi Spike, google this, how long do crabs live on humans, and the frist answer is the one to read, but if you have read up about crabs you will read that they are only active at nights, and if you shave off you pubic hairs then they have no were to hide during the day, but get to your chemist and see the pharmacist and ask for something for your problem he/she will help you, dont be affraid as lots of people get them.

Hey Nohard,

I don't have any STDs.  All those tests related to STD I took came back normal.    In fact I hardly have sex these days.

The itching starts only in the early hours somewhere between 2 to 4 in the morning, and disturbs the sleep.

I feel slightly wet behind the bottom of my penis, and the scrotum and penis starts itching very badly during this time..    I don't know what is wet that is creating in the skin...  I really doubt whether it is sweat or somethin else..   I live in a very cold place, and I rarely sweat.   I have a very mild sensation of something is moving in the scrotum while it itches.
In the morning, once I wake up, I don't have any itching, and there is no visible rashes, etc.

1. If there are crabs, will it stay for 10 months in a human body?
2. Are crabs visible with naked eyes?
3. Will the crabs start giving the itch only during specific time?

Hi Spike you sypmtoms do match up with the dreaded crabs, try getting your pubic hairs shaved off, the get down either to your doctor or an STD clinic for some help, many years ago they used to paint some stuff on ( gentian violet we think ) that went blue and you with it, yes real blue b**ls.
Hope this helps.

I normally maintain personal hygiene, and keep the genital area always clean.   I do use bathing medicated lotions.

As I mentioned, the itching is always only in the night time between the bottom of the penis and the beginning of the satchel.

I don't see anything visibly wrong, no redness, swelling, or bumps is making me really confused.

Any excessive scratching with fingers unknowingly during sleep can damage the spermatic chord, and causing a mild pain as well?

What is scabes (I read as STD in google), or Crabs?     Can they reside in a human body for such a long time, that is 10 months or more?

There are many conditions that cause itching only at night - but as it hasn't subsided after ten months, you should probably see a dermatologist.  I'm assuming you keep clean and dry downstairs, that it's not related to excessive sweating.

I'd probably try washing in the morning, before bed - I'd be tempted to use a medicated jock/foot powder/spray for a couple nights and see if that allows it to subside (don't think it's going to hurt).

I'd probably want to check with a DR before starting with any steroidal creams downstairs.
