Left Testicular Pain and Discomfort

Hi.
I am 18 years old and have a dull pain in my left testicle and down my inner left thigh. I can also remember, if this info would be of any help, about 3 or 4 years ago I had a severe, frequent pain in my left testicle that occurred for a couple of months on and off. I never mentioned it, nor have I ever thought anything of it. The pains then stopped so I forgot about it. But now there is a reoccurring, frequent dull pain and also an often heavier pain that is sometimes really painful especially when touched or squeezed.

I have been to my family physician and when I told him that I had testicular pain, he checked for a hernia, why, I don't know, but long story short I didn't have a hernia.

Now this is what I would assume be some helpful information to solve this problem. When I "cough" my right testicle retracts about an inch towards the abdomen, not in the abdomen, but towards it. The left barely moves 2mm if it even moves at all. Now, I am not sure if this is normal or not but I thought that I would mention it. The second thing is that when I hold my testicles as if I were checking for cancer, there seems to be a build up of, let me say, veins in the left testicle. I doubt I am confusing these veins with the epididymis that is towards the back, top of each testicle because there is a build up on the left side that is not similar to the right side.

This is all my info that I have to give you and I hope that you can figure out if there is a problem that I should be aware about. I also thank you, and am very appreciative for your time in answering my question. Thanks... Kevin.

I've had a disorder twice called epididimytis (can't spell it, but will never forget the pain).

The first time I had it, it felt like I took a baseball to the 'nads but nothing had hit me.  Just a sudden onset of pain that gradually got worse over a period of days.  Went to a walk-in clinic (didn't have a family doc) and they sent me to an ER to rule out a twisted testicle - a life threatening condition.

Ultrasound ruled that out, but that came after the shot of some heavy duty pain killer.  Diagnosis of epididawhatever it's called.

Two years later, came back, doubled me over, thought I would die.  Same thing.

It's an infection (and sometimes blockage) in those same vein like tubes within the testicle.  It can occur in a single testicle and send pain shooting down your leg.

The treatment is some heavy hitting antibiotics - infections in the testes are hard to reach.  After about a week, it cleared and I've been pain free for about 5 years.
