yes he has several doctors he goes to they have been fighting about wether he has RA or cancer bcuz his high RA factor...i didnt know if that could causer schizophrenia or not, Is my mom allowed to talk to a doctor about that? But we have read that after so long theres no chance in recovering bcuz they isolate themselves and think everyone is against them...we think he is to far along for any help...but what should we do??? Would a doctor be able to perscribw him meds without him knowing? or should we just coope?
Yes, he could have schizophrenia , think I spelled that right. It's really a shame he won't see a Dr about this. He does see a Dr for his RA and heart problems does'nt he? Maybe your mom can get one of them to the side and talk to them about these other symptoms.
ok the medicine he is on now is....prednisone, carvedilol, simvastatin, asprin, ibuprofen, and effient.
Thankfully i have a labtopnow so i hope communicationwill be easier. Well his mental problems started back when he was inhis early to mid thirtties his now 49 His heart problems didnt start til last winter whenhe had a series of small heart attacks unnoticed to a very servere one...then this summer he was wrking in the garden and had a heart attack with a level 10 inpain!!! sorry my space button keeps sticking. again im not aroundmy mother so i will hav to get the medicationsto you later hopefully tonight...yes it was prednisone, it helps but it is a steroid nd cant be taken for long because it can burn a hole in your stomache. he has been on humera but he had an allergic reaction, he has been on almost everything nd has been allergic to it...the doctor is starting him on a new drug they just released im going to do some reaserch on it but i dont hav the name with me...we have alsoheard of a RA recovery procedure that does something with the cells nd puts people in full remition (sry bout spelling) but its not in the us ndvery expensive...mymom didi some reasearch and when she found Paranoia Scitzo all of the syptoms descibe who he is nd how he acts we think it has to be it but theres no way he would listen or go to the doctor for it he is way to far into isolating himself nd saying everyone is against him...we r not sure what to do...any advice would be great THX!!!!
The med that starts with a P is Prednisone. Yes, it can make you gain weight and from what I do know about it from my sister, you should only take it for short periods of time if possible. I'm glad to hear he's seeing a specialist for the RA. There is a fairly new med available called Humera, I spelled that wrong I know. It does come with some possible severe side effects and I am not promoting any meds. But it could be an option for his RA. Can you tell me more about his heart problems? Did he have open heart surgery? Even people that have not had surgery but have heart attacks can have problems with their memories. I had a heart attack 2 months ago and had just one stent placed. Oh my gosh! I could not believe how bad my memory was there for awhile.Thank goodness it's back. My mom had a quad bi-pass 12 years ago and still has memory problems at times.People can also become very different like what your dad is going through, the paranoia and such. So, there could be a few different things going on. His meds, the heart attacks and or some other physical problem that has not been diagnosed. Yes, if you can post a list of his meds that might really help.
thats ok whatever i can do to help u help me lol...he has seen a specialist of both rhuematology and oncology...sorry about the spelling. he has had major heart attacks so hes on blood pressure meds nd such...im not at home right now but i will ask my mom for a whole list of his medicines....his problems started a little before his arthitis did...i would say in his early to mid 30's...oh i do know he is on some medicine that starts with a p and makes him gain weight and is really tearing up his stomach. sorry i know this info isnt great but i will be on here soon to get you details...thx!
Is he seeing a specialist, or his family Dr? My sister has RA and she sees a specialist. There are several treatments for this condition. Is your dad taking any meds? How long ago did the "mental problems" start? Sorry about all of the questions but the more we know the better we can help.
