I recently underwent surgical repair of a left inguinal hernia, with a mesh implant. The recovery has been a bit rougher than I anticipated, but I am hanging in there. I have a follow up with the surgeon tomorrow, and intend to ask him about this, but you never know how we will be dealt with by doctors who may be uncomfortable discussing gay sex, sadly.
I am in a long-term, committed relationship. He is taking good care of me, and being understandably patient regarding a return to sexual activity. All of the literature seems skewed toward hetero-normative sex, so when it says "go ahead and have sex when you feel up to it," I don't know how inclusive that is. To be frank, I am a bottom and a big part of our fulfilling sex life is receptive anal intercourse on my part. This has me very nervous about a few things, that I am hoping someone here has experience with. If so, please take a minute to chime in and maybe help set my mind at ease, or caution me if that is the truth... here goes...
1. Did anyone have a constructive/explicit conversation about receptive anal sex after this surgery? What did they have to say?
2. How long should I wait before trying to bottom? I know everyone is different, but did anyone do this and have no problems, some problems, or horrible problems from bottoming again?
3. I know I am afraid to be very adventurous with positions for a while. Even so, eventually, urges will be there, and I want to be prepared in advance with good information. Are there any positions that are more or less safe following this surgery?
Thanks guys for any advice or information you can offer!
