being drenched in sweat and uncontrollable coldness and shaking

my dad has dropped about 20 pounds in the last 2 months...he has chrones and colitius ...but it is controlled....he has been sweating to the point of soaking the bed at night and then he gets so cold,he has uncontrollable shaking ....he bundles up to the point of, even in the winter it would be to hot for a normal person. And he does not usually have issues with being cold...the doctor thought he might be dietbetic and has put him on pills for it....but it has been enough time for the pills to be in his system ...they are not helping. Also trouble breathing
Any thoughts or help would be great!!! thanks

Hi,
." the doctor thought he might be dietbetic and has put him on pills for it.."
I wonder what kind of Dr. he is, who has to depend on his intuition to diagnose ' diabetes ' when simple tools are available to confirm it.
Any how your father has to go for a good health check up in good hospital  to diagnose his disease and get appropriate treatment. No shortcut for it.
