large 'zit' on penis.

About 6 weeks ago a tiny spot appeared about half way down my penis - curious - I squeezed it and a little puss came out.  Since then it has gotten a little larger.  It causes me no discomfort at all - but is rather unsightly.  It literally looks like a spot a teenager would get on their forehead - I've seen many pictures of genital warts in my hunting online - and apart from the fact that the blemish is not on the shaft of my penis but on the outer skin - it simply doesn't seem to look at all like genital warts.  Also there is no sign of it multiplying in anyway.
I've been putting antiseptic cream on it - and even toothpaste to dry it out - this calms it down and sometimes it almost vanishes, but never completely.
Any ideas as to what this could be?  It has been suggested by some sites that it is simply a sweat gland that has expanded and gotten dirty - but I'm open to suggestions!

Thank you
