if your male then if your penis might be enlarged from excitement which i think is the reason for the delay because it happened with me once or twice
i know what you're referring to, but this happens to me all the time (when flaccid). thank you for your response though.
I am 79, nearing 80. I have the same problem. My prostate is normal. This problem is since many years. So I would not call it age related. Few weeks back I did bladder sonography and urine analysis. The test was normal. I do not have any related disorder. I have to get up 3 to 4 times during the night.
After defecation, flow of urine is faster. Sometime passing of gas facilitates the flow of urine. Kidney functions are normal. Any suggestion will be welcomed. I am comfortable at day time. Night time is difficult
while searching website for hesitant urination, i came across some useful information for our disorder. I am pasting the same.
Common Causes
Urinary hesitancy can be caused by:
* Benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate)
* Urinary tract infection, especially if chronic and recurrent
* Prostatitis (inflammation or infection of the prostate gland)
* Drugs (some cold remedies, some nasal decongestants, tricyclic antidepressants, and anticholinergics which may be used for incontinence)
* Shy or bashful bladder syndrome in younger people (unable to urinate when another person is in the room)
* Neurologic disorders
Home Care
* Monitor, record, and report your urination patterns to your doctor.
* Apply heat to your lower abdomen (below your belly button and above the pubic bone). This is where the bladder lies. The heat relaxes muscles and aids urination.
* Massage or place light pressure over your bladder to stimulate emptying.
* Drink plenty of fluid, especially fruit juices like cranberry.
* For infections, antibiotics from your doctor will be needed. Symptoms that suggest a possible infection include burning or pain with urination, frequent urination, cloudy urine, and a sense of urgency (strong, sudden urge to urinate.)
Home care; massage over the bladder area or apply heat to the area between the belly button and pubic bone.this we can without harming our self.
thank you very much for your post! this has definately been helpful. im going to look more into the neurological disorders because i really don't believe that i have any kind of prostate issues. I'm very curious as to what kind of neurological disorder would cause problems with urination (other than bladder shyness).
