too sensitive

I am a 27 year old male. Me and my girlfriend have been together for 10 years now. I think my penis is very average at 7.5inches and about 3.5 inch girth. We have a great sex life!!! But more often than not as soon we start having sex I finish very quickly. But after a short break I am good to go for about an hour. I have done research and tried different things to stop from finishing so fast the first time. Why does my penis get so sensitive and how can I desensitize it(just a little)? I have done research and it says to masturbate all the time and it should do the trick, but it doesn't seem to be working. Any other suggestions?
