Pain in calfs

It started like cramps maybe 4 times a year at most. Could happen while I was about to go to sleep or having sex. Never during sports. its was just my right calf and it got very swollen. The last at least seven years I have pain more often in both calfs but they dont swell up. It doesn't hurt if i rest the legs like in sitting down or lying in a bed. But if I walk i put serious strain on them and it hurts a lot in the calfs of both legs and if I force myself to walk on I will come to a point where i just have to sit down on the ground because the legs cant carry me. After that i can be extremely sensitive in the calfs for up to two days, like someone been beating on them with a baseball bat.  I find it hard to put in relation to stuff I do but I feel like if I have been lying down for or just sitting i a couch with my legs up on a table or in the couch for a couple of days or more a lot of the times before it happens. I do enjoy to eat a lot of sweets while im in couch mood but im quite fit in general and work out at least 4 times a week. Does this sound like ordinary cramps? Usually it starts with some pain in the calfs and if I ignore it and still go out and use my legs it will end up in real pain to the point that its impossible to take another step. It happend more than once that i had to crawl the last distance when I have ignored the warnings. Any clue what it can be and what causes it? Thank you

I wouldn't be surprised if it were compartment syndrome, and don't understand why if they swelled twice their normal size, the doctors didn't do something at the time.  Please see a doctor, you really need answers.

Annie, it was many years ago they swoll and when they di they got huge. we are talking double the normal size. Now days they dont swell, just hurt a lot. Today is the fourth day i still feel it even if I can walk. Its the first time it has gone on for more than 2 days in a row. If its cramp it would just stop hurt after a hour or two, I wouldnt feel it for days, am I wrong?

I don't like the sound of the swelling. The cramping, maybe you don't have enough potassium in your diet or maybe you should try some tonic water (it has quinine) but swelling suggests an actual blood clot.  Why don't you go see a doctor to at least try to rule out that possibility?

Hi Trash, are you taking any medications for other things other than your calf cramping?
