I posted about a week ago about the sharp pain in the right side of my head. But I'm not sure I was clear as to what I meant.
I'm 18 and first year college student. Not involved in partying for anything.
I have a 4 year history of migraines but I know this is not a migraine at all.
Back in August I had this awful pain on the right side of my head starting at the top of my forehead to the base of my skull. I didn't think anything about it, two weeks go on and the pain stayed, everyday constant sharp pain and it would sometimes get worse during day and then go back to the sharp pain, but always staying on the right side. So, I go to the Doctor, get a CAT scan and he said I had sinusitis and sent me to and ENT. He had a copy of my CAT scan and said there is no way that a small sinus infection could make my head hurt like that. I still continued my antibiotics and went back to the doctor when it didnt get a bit better. He just gave me another round of heavy antibiotics. Two weeks later I go back, and he just said to start on Inderal for migraines see if that helps. Well, the pain was bearable but nothing helped it...I knew it was NOT a migraine but I stayed on the inderal too imitrex when it got REAL intense because the pain was always there and tried OTC drugs, aspirin, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc. So in October the constant pain was growing heavier and I couldn't take it, I went back to the doctor and he ordered a second CAT scan and yet, came back clear he sent me off with Lortabs to last me a lifetime.
By then I noticed my left leg and shoulder would start almost like a twitching several times during the day. You know how like your eye twitches sometimes and you can't stop it ha. Well that's what it was but in my leg and shoulder I thought it was quite humorous, but the Student Doctor noticed it, and mentioned it to my doctor but he didn't mention anything to me about it.
So time keeps going and I'm taking the pain pills but it didn't stop the pain completely. I finally realized that my doctor [who actually is a pediatrician...I never switched when I got older] wasn't going to do anything else and I didn't want to look like a big drug head looking for pills.
But since the middle of November it's gotten unbearable. I got to where I was almost used to the pain that was constantly there and just cried like a baby when it got worse. But, now the constant sharp pain is awful. My right eye gets bloodshot and droopy and I'm getting really dizzy easy. I finally went to the Doctor again, but I saw the Nurse Prac. and she ordered an MRI and noticed my twitching but.......it's been two weeks and the doctor's office has yet to call me with an approval from my insurance [Va. Medicaid] for my MRI and an appt. for a Neurologist. I've kept calling almost everyday but you can never get through. So today, I got so dizzy I vomited three times....I just don't know what to do or what it could be. And I honestly think that my insurance isn't going to approve my MRI.
I thought of any possibility of what it could be. I know it's not a Migraine, I know good and well when those are, it's not a "cluster" headache, it's not from stress or partying.
