Is it migraines or something else?

by gigglebox1283, Nov 01, 2009 10:13PM
I have been having headaches for almost a year now. They last for 7-10 days very very severe and then gradually get less and less severe for around 3 days (it verys) and then it starts all over.  i awake with them they get a tinsy bit better during the day and worse again at night. I have been from doc to doc and get told something different every time. I did get a ct and an mri. Both showed Hydrocephlus and cysts. One being a 20mm Arachnoid cyst in posterior fossa. The last doc said none of these things cause headaches and told me i just suffer migraines. I have done large amounts of reasearch and everything i have read says hydro can most defentky cause headaches along with alot of other things some of which i do deal with on occasion. However lights and sounds dont effect my headaches. Which is a major sign of migraines. Got put on topmax and it does not help!!
I desperatly need some advise. Even just some encouraging words would be great. Thanks!!!!

Hi,
How are you? Migraine headaches may present differently from person to person. But it is important to determine if your headaches are primarey or secondary in nature. Further evaluation may be warranted. If pain medications do not work, have you tried complimentary and alternative medicine? Biofeedback therapy and even hypnosis have been shown to be effective in some headache sufferers. Talk to your doctor about this for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.

Thank you for your reply. I will have to find out if they are prim. or second. I also have neurofibromatisis which I have found can cause headaches too. Guess it's something I am just going to have to deal with unfortunately. I will also find out more about biofeedback sounds interesting!!! Thanks again
