Persistent visaul hallo on valsavic satraining.

Hi ,
I’ve been diagnosed with migraine variant, without head pain/ with vertigo and aura.
I've had the vertigo For the past 15 years which is now under control with topamax.
Before trying topamax 75mg.
I’ve noticed a permanent day and night hallo in my vision on straining.
I did post this same email in ophthalmology section and Dr suggested I see and neuro ophthalmologist, which I did, he said my eyes are perfect.
He said nothing in the eye’s.

I also have persistent aura!
Which doesn’t bother me, as it is quite faint.
I have no infraction according to my MRI.
I have never had any other form of scan on my brain for the vascular system.
Should this be required?

This is how my migraine presents.
---------------------------------------------------
1 mood (excited) 3 hours before event
2 aura visual ect… / 60minutes, leg hand twitching ect..
3 visual shifting / side to side shaking 15minutes
4  thoughts scurrying / trying to find a place/ 20minutes
6  fear panicky feeling /30 minutes
7  cant speak / slurring words/ decreased awareness/ repeating a  words /
8  as in overwhelming calmness ½ hour
9  vertigo / rocking/ visual rotation
10 sleep like there's no tomorrow.
11 stiffness of all muscles in body, legs like rocks

My neurologist tried one med on me (antidepressant)and when it didn’t work ,made things worse,
so he handed me to me GP.
I asked my GP to try topamax and after 2 months of topamax, my 15 years my migraines have stopped.

Something else has happened which has been a wonderful side effect of the drug.
I seem to have been half asleep for my whole life. I would say at least 68% with no word of a lie.
And after only a 2 weeks on topamax woke completely like I’ve been born for the very first time.
I’m 45 years old.
I would love to hear what you think might have been going on, maybe just an opinion at least, that would be exciting.

The hallo thing in my eyes doesn’t bother me all that much, its only when I bend or roll over in bed, cough or Val salver type movement / strain.

My aura has been since I was around 6,and have only realized that!
Because my aura isn’t only visual its.
Dejavu
Jamas vu
An the list go’s on
I thought it was spiritaul by nature , and now realise, it was all neurological.

I’m keen to hear what you think about my brain fog completely going and my new brain function.
I can feel the left hand side of my brain starting to work and it appears my so-called dyslexia is also disappearing.
Thank you so much in advance,

jen

Hi,

How are you?
Since your brain MRI is normal, I do not think you need any further testing.
Also since you have been able to keep a check on your migraines with Topamax I feel you need not to take any more medications.
Topamax has been found to be very useful in breaking the migraine cycle.
Please remember that FDA has issued a notification to all physicians prescribing topamax about the risk of vision loss and blindness.
Please watch out for any eye pain and blurred vision as these are the early symptoms and inform your doctor immediately.
Take care!
