What should I do?

by giuli, Aug 10, 2007 05:53PM
I've been told by 2 doctors after 2 mri's and 1 ophtalmologist that I have migraine.
I told them that I have no headaches at all but they gave me Depakote 250mg to take twice a day.
My symtoms are doble vision, dizzines and happend almost everyday.
Is this diagnostic correct or do you think I should try a different doctor or a different test?
I thank you very much in advance

These could be migraine variants or migraine associated vertigo. You do not have to get a headache to have these. I was dx with migraine associated vertigo and did not believe the dx because I do get regular migraines with aura once a month and this was different. I was having these almost everyday.
The only way to know for sure is a trial of migraine prevention meds such as Depakote. I felt better almost immediately. If it doesn't work, I would then see an ENT and have your ears checked.
Hope this helps.

Spine needing alignment can cause this but there are other problems too that can cause it.  My mom experiences double vision with her illness, polymiosistis.  But she has lots of other symptoms too.  She was told her double vision was due to a squint, which seemed weird, but she had glasses made to help her and her double vision went.  I assume you have been keeping off the bottle!!!!!  Dizziness can be a result of inner ear problems like labrinthitis, you may need to see an ENT specialist or else a Rheumatoid specialist.

Hi.

Is the double-vision unilateral or does it involve both eyes? Does the divalproex sodium (Depakote) relieve your symptoms?

It is indeed possible in some instances for migraine-associated symptoms to occur without migraines. These atypical presentations of migraines would most likely respond to drugs used to treat migraines.

Have you been examined by an ophthalmologist? Does your double vision only occur during these attacks? It is essential to determine or rule out any other causes of diplopia related to the ocular system.

Hope this helps.
