one side headache from 1 year for my husband

Hi Doctor,

This headache problem is for my husband. he has a mild pain on left side of his forehead, cannot say this is exactly at forehead to. because the pain occurs near to his ear may be i could say a center place above where your eye and ear is connected. he says he gets the continuous pain a mid one not so sharp even. he has got this pain after he had suffered a severe cold. even now he has a little running nose. but not every day some times.

when we checked with the doctor they gave some course of tablets for five days but it was not okay. and their is no history of migraine in the family. he is working as an IT person.

could you suggest me what could be the diesease. or is it a migraine itself. or should we need to go for scan.
my husband says if he touches that place or press that particular place in his head it pains more.
i doubt if it is a nerve proble.

can you please suggest me the treatment so that i can tell him that. i wanted this to be cured before it could go to serious problem... i am worried for him...
please help...

Hi,

I understand this worries you.

A prior upper respiratory tract infection may make us consider that the headaches are due to a sinus congestion. What medications have been described?

I suggest you seek consult with an ENT specialist for thorough assessment of the eyes, ears, nasal passages and throat. Sinus infections may cause headaches due to swelling and congestion of the sinuses and surrounding soft tissues. The ENT doctor may be able to help rule out involvement of these structures.

What medications were prescribed?

Just watch our for any associated numbness, dimming or bluring of vision, slurring of speech or faintness. Any change in the headache's character may warrant immediate consult. At this point, this may not be urgent. A complete medical history and physical examination by your physician may help ascertain the cause. Consecutive management may depend on the findings .

Just continue to reassure your husband. A cold compress over the area may help relieve the pain. Do keep us posted regarding your physician's advice.
