pressure in head

Since May 07 I have been experiencing "pressure" in my head.  This pressure like feeling is a dull ache, burning sensation that sits on the top portion of my head. It will come and go, but when I feel the "pressure" it will last for days.It also changes sides and will radiate down to my jaw. This feeling will subside when I weight lift , run and sleep. I have worked out with weights for over 10 years and used to compete in body building. I am not sure if maybe I pinched a nerve or not? All I know is that I have never felt this strange sensation before and it's not "normal". I have been to the dr. who told me everything was fine. I dye my hair...don't know if that can be related?Besides this annoying presure I feel great... Just racking my brain here to try and get to the bottom of this. Just want to feel like myself again. If anyone has any info. or advice, I would really welcome it. Thanks.

Just wanted to say that your definitley not alone in this matter.  I was a reasonably healthy guy until about 2 months ago.  I was sitting on the couch when all of the sudden I had a sudden pressure go from the base of my skull all the way to the top.  I felt as if I was going to die on the spot, It seemed like I was going to loose conciousness about 3 times on my way to the E.R.(i went right away after feeling this), where I was told the same thing as everyone else that has these symptoms is told.... Tension headaches.  I feel your pain not knowing what the heck is going on and not feeling at all like yourself.  Good luck to us all.

Thanks for your feedback. I went to the dr's Fri.. She gave me a muscle relaxant for what could be tension aches. I took it Sunday night and Monday morning(yesterday) after having a cup of coffee , my heart started to race/ rapid heartbeat and my wrists were tingling. I went to the emergency room. There , I was given an ekg for my heart and a cat scan of my head, both o.k. I was diagnosed with headache/ weakness? The nurse said that hyperventilating can cause the tingling sensation in wrists, I guess. I came home, head still having pressure, and just took it easy. I did read the label on the muscle relaxant and it could have caused  my heart palpitations. So, I am not going to take that anymore. ...What else...yeah, I feel the most pressure when sitting or standing. Lying down is great, sleeping is wonderful, and even watching t.v propped up with a pillow is better. I am going to make an appt w/ a massage therapist today to see if that helps. It seems like my neck and shoulders are extremely tight. If I press down on my shoulders it seems to relieve the head pressure . Maybe it's a pinched nerve. I also feel like when I work out the pressure will go away. It's just so frustrating, as you know. I feel so bad for you having to deal with this for two years!!!  Do you always have the pressure in your head? Mine can switch sides and also go away for weeks at a time. Thanks so much for writing to me. Stay in touch and l hope you feel better.

I am looking for answers also, perhaps I have something similar.  My symptoms...intense...pain/pressure in my nose..bridge of nose/between my eyes area, sometimes gets so bad it will radiate around my head.   I am sure my nose has grown as last year looked at picture and eyes next to bridge of nose black and always now swollen above upper lid.  This "feeling" of nose growing constant for 2 years...but looking back blaming on sinus for up to 7-8 years. Over last 2 years I have been to ENT who has said nothing wrong...2nd opinion...nothing wrong with sinuses...aching over entire body, with more severe and weakness in legs, 2 drs. diag. fibromyalgia, 2 rheumat. said Not fibromyal., have seen Endrocrin...with results on 26th Oct...unofficial from GP...she thinks it is Rheum...I asked her to check growth hormone, no comment from her....2 MRI's of brain, 3rd tomorrow the 9th for possible Edonoma on Pituitary, full work up of blood from Rheumatologist to be seen Nov. 7th..NOT Sjogrens or Lupus (family history) but negative biopsy from saliva gland, I have pupil in right eye larger than left for 23 yrs, now starting to enlarge, slight lazy eyelid and only blood test so far showing anything is cholestrol and cortizol elevated.  I feel extremelly tired, take 100 mg toradol from neurologist anti-seizure med. for migraines.  I feel like my whole brow area is swollen, enlarged, like a have an enlarged area above my eyes like I have been hit, the ends of  my eyebrow bones are sore, I feel like my eye muscles are sore.  I have been to my optomestrist 3 X this year.  I  am returning in 3 weeks as she is concerned about the pupil enlargement.  My cheekbones are sore, bones behind my ears are sore, my neck muscles are sore..I have had TMJ.....it is not that problem, I work for a dentist.  My tongue is dry, I get mouth sores.   My headaches area is right between my eyes and I have trouble opening my eyes wide, it is like my forehead and nose is in a vise.....I am seeing every kind of doctor in this area and my doctor has sent me to a psychiatrist!  I am not imaging this problem, and I feel unable to look after my granddaughter, but I do, I work part-time, look after a house and garden, and 2 wonderful dogs and I am only 55.  Needless to say after 2 years of trying to convince drs. this really is a problem I can't help but break down and cry once in a while.  Has anyone had anything like this.  Please doctors can you comment on these odd symptoms...and direct me to help myself with my care.  I have tried...massage therapy, reflexology, accupuncture, chiropractors and a naturopath.??? I really have no comment on any of them...except nice for the moment. I have had TMJ, Carpal Tunnel Left Wrist, and Plantar Fasciasta (sp) left ft.  I do not have significant swellling in joints or any elevated sed. rates, to date.  It has all been muscular aching to the point sometimes I walk around my house with a cane.  Any thoughts or comments will be read and thought about. I live in Canada, and hate winter.  Thank you so much.  Meloni

Hi I have been having the "head pressure" for the past two years... I had a MRI 2 years ago, a CT Scan of my sinuses this past Friday & today 10-8-07 I saw an ENT who said he feels it's not a sinus issue.  My pressure is usually worse when I am sitting or standing still.  You would be surprised by how many people have talked about head pressure & no one knows whats wrong with them.  I am now going to see an allergist because my head pressure seems to lessen during summer & get really intense when fall starts.  I totally understand how you just know that something is not right - I have felt this way for 2 years now.  Have you had an MRI, they say that head pressure is not normally a sign of tumors & stuff, do you have any other symptoms?  Bad headaches?  Anything I find out I will pass onto you....   hang in there.
