Well, that could be too. Reproduction may be stuck in high instead of too low. I have heard of people having blood filtered, or being 'bled because there are too many red blood cells.
Still, I would ask, what are these red blood cells like, and what else might be either high or low from normal range?
Any hormone level can also be too high or too low.
Blood sugar, blood pressure and body temp (controlled by hypothalamus) can go high or low. I suspect HIGH when there is recent exposure. I suspect LOW when you are years away from 'the flu' or too much exposure
Actually my RBC has been borderline high...
That would seem logical ... however, why is it that in the definition of Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome (& subsets of slight variations: CFS, ME, FM) that it is said doctors do not find 'the FATIGUE'
Do you feel fatigued? and have any of the other signs that those in this group would have? Besides horrible headaches, there is serious depression, short term memory loss, those kinds of things
Since for this group there is more than one thing wrong, RDW would be UP for those with AIHA and DOWN for those with arthritic pains, etc, etc, etc. 'the numbers' don't tell what is going on.
My friend had 'anemia' but they couldn't pin it down, and eventually pancreatic cancer showed up after FLU, and after many weeks of horrible headaches. I asked her in February what they found out about the anemia and she said that she heard no more about it.
From what was going on the last days of her life, it sounded like she died from autoimmune hemolytic anemia. Her feet were turning blue, she had rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath; probably 'the chills' and probably abnormal body temperature (high or low)
She died on March 2 of this year.
I think that if doctors would have the lab techs LOOK at the red blood cells they would find some irregularities. But for the most of people they are concentrating on one of the side issues, and the anemia that is showing, doesn't seem important
Even if 'the numbers' show an appropriate level of hemoglobin, doesn't mean these type of red blood cells can adequately utilize it.
Usually the counts of red blood cells are borderline normal, and this anemia 'hides out'

Hmmm, that looks like something that would quickly be picked up on a routine CBC blood test...anemia is easy to recognize
Sorry to hear this
Are your symptoms like the Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome ... CFS, FM for short?
This is what I can share about BUTYL (the exact chemical with butyl that I studied was 2-butoxyethanol & flu symptoms in general, are what exposure would look like)
http://www.valdezlink.com/re/butylcauses.htm
There is a lot of good info on this web page
I write the web pages to express what I've learned
Usually there is a serious anemia not found by doctors,
and I have some helps ... if anyone is interested
I think many in the military (as well as civilians) have been running into this chemical for decades.
Intro of me
http://www.valdezlink.com/gwv/andcivilians.htm
I don't work anymore because this has disabled me
Hi missnanny, what is BUTYL? The fact is that I -don't- have any sinus infection (my sinuses are clear as a bell on CT), but I do have red, inflammed nasal passages and swollen turbinate. I have thought about chemical exposures since I live in an attic conversion and I probably indirectly breath and same air from where the house's pink insulation lies (I live in the south east where it's hot and humid in the summer and homes aren't strongly insulated) . But I know my symptoms are not typical of mold exposure
chronic sinusitis?
If 'a cold' or congestion persists for, as you say, 41 months ... it could be an ongoing exposure to BUTYL.
I suspect this chemical for causing horrible headaches and the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome symptoms and autoimmune issues. Many times a tumor, even a brain tumor comes along 'after the fact' yet focus continually is upon the tumor.

Do you have anemia? memory loss?
Seizures can also be from lack of blood oxygen
Has something changed in your life the past 41 months ... Different than before?
What kind of work do you do?
