Daily Migraines..

Hello, I'm 17 and I was diagnosed with migraines when I was 7. I've been getting them almost daily since that summer. Although with each new pill they put me on it stopped for a while. I was on midrin for a long while but I got used to it and started to max out and had the aide of other pills. I was put on Maxalt and it stopped working in a couple of months and I often time had to mix it with other pills. Between appt I took excedrin extra strength, I was taking 3 or 4 pills for two hours. The new pills they had put me on was a "pre migraine pill" imitrex and a once you get a migraine pill" Fioricet. But the Fioricet is beggining to stop working. I am getting migraines multiple times a day and its really getting to me. I've had a MRI done before but it was clear. The same time they were trying to find the migraines they told us I had mild OCD(I'm not sure if that helps). When I have a migraine I am light and sound affected. Sometimes I feel sick to my stomach and I see spots. I also kept a migraine diary and that didn't really help. Any ideas of new pills or anything that could possible get past these migraines would be amazing! Thanks!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Try not to take more than the prescribed pills. Three or four pills every two hours is not advisable. It may even cause you more harm than good. If these prescription medications do not work, you can also consider the complimentary and alternative medicine such as biofeedback therapy. Talk to your doctor about this.  It is also important to determine the possible triggers that may be causing your migraines. Take care and do keep us posted.

I can't help answer anything.  But I do have a question my 9 year old is stuggling with migraines as well as OCD - has your neuro, PCP, anyone suggested any relation between the two?

We've been on a variety of meds.  Elavil seems most effective for him.  Imitrex, etc doesn't work.  Too nervous to get him started on anything stronger at this age.  We spend alot of time in the dark, screaming, and throwing up.

Hang in there.
