Headache Followed by Vomiting

I get these about once a month. Headaches will start mild and gradually get stronger. After vomiting(10-15 times), headache goes away.

Hi,

Thanks for writing again.
Beta blockers like propranolol do have any interaction with antacids. So it is ok to take Propranolol with antacids.

Hope this answers your question!

Hi,

Could you please tell me which part of the world do you currently reside? Antacids like pepto-bismal, Tums, Mylanta and Maalox are available OTC in the US.

Hi,

Yes headache is known to occur who tend to get gassy after meals. I would suggest you to make sure that your bowel motions are regular. Eat healthy and drink plenty of water. In case you get acidity you can take OTC antacids before meals.
Hope this helps!

Hi,

In that case you need to undergo a CT scan or MRI of head to rule out possibility of intracranial lesions like brain aneurysm or a space occupying lesion.
Take care!

Hi,

What type of headache is it? A throbbing one or a sharp one?
The symptoms are suggestive of migraine. Have you been able to identify a trigger for your headaches?
I would suggest you to schedule an appointment with a neurologist as soon as possible. Meanwhile if you get headaches again you can try lying down in a quiet room, apply cold compresses and take OTC pain killers.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi

For how long has this been happening?

Was a baseline cranial CT scan done?

You need a neurology referral for this. The presence of headaches associated with vomiting may suggest underlying conditions that may require immediate intervention. An ophthalmologic and ENT examination are also important to rule out peripheral nerve disorders and localized eye problems.

Bring your self to the nearest medical center. Having vomited 10 to 15 times require that you be rehydrated. You may need correction of your electrolytes .This is important as electrolyte losses may cause further problems.
