what to do

okay, i have a few things.  I experience extreme migrains usually during my mentrual cycle.  The symptoms include numbness of arms and lips, aura's, loss of speech, confusion.  So basically, aura migraines.  Well, this is just background, my real concern is (since i've been diagnosed for the migraines already) that i have been experiencing sharp shooting pains to the back and upper portion of my head..they seem random and they make me wince when they happen.  I wouls also like to give some more backround information.  I work at a computer 4-5 days a week...have worked here for 2 years now.  The pains started about 6 months ago and also, my wisdom teeth are impazcted and need to be taken out and have have not been done so yet.

please help!
thank you

You are explaining the same thing that happens to me. When my pain started i also had impacted wisdom teeth, and have since had those removed and the pain persists. I have had a CT Scan and been on many many meds. I was diagnosed with something called SUNCT Syndrome but believe it not to be true since this syndrome is most often found in men ages 50 and older. The pain used to be only something that happened before my period, and now happens all the time. If you find anything out i would love to know! It is comforting knowing that i am not the only one with this strange pain. Do you feel a ton of pressure after the sharp pain??

Hi,
You could possibly be getting icepick headaches which are very common in migraine patients. These are sharp shooting pains which are gone in 30 seconds and occur many times during the day. Indomethacin (NSAID) is usually prescribed to prevent icepick headaches. Please discuss this possibility with your physician.

Hi,
You need to take a step wise approach for a complete relief from the headaches and from your symptoms. First start with the extraction of your impacted molars - this would definitely help a lot with the headache and other symptoms that you experiencing. Next whenever you are in front of the computer take a break every one hour or so for a few minutes and close youe eyes and do some neck strtch exercises. Get your eyesight checked for any visual abnormality due to the long hours in fron of the computer which would aggravate the headaches. Now, try some OTC painkillers at the time of the headaches and also some antianxiety medication like alprazolam would help. Maintain adequate hyrdation and sleep for atleast 6-7 hours daily. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Try some breathing exercises and yoga. During your menstrual cycle take some antispasmodic medication. Also get your bloodpressure checked to see if it is in the normal range. The above measures should help in relieving the symptoms but if the symptoms still persist then take a neurologis opinion. Goodluck.
