headache

I am being checked for sinus problems.  I get a migraine first at the top of my eye ball socket on one side then it moves to the side of my head and then to the back of the lower part of my head.  After I take something for it, then my nose will stuff up a little.
Today I went to work feeling fine. When I got there I was in a dark parking lot at 6:15 am talking to a co-worker as she was standing blocking  most of a  street light.  Some of the light started to bother me as I was looking her direction, so I turned my heard to a darker area.  All of a sudden in my left eye was a half circle with jagged edges flickering.  As I rubbed my eye it got worse and the circle started to get bigger and I was getting a little light headed.  I had a co -worker take me to a hospital where the doctor checked behind my eyes and said I was having some kind of migraine.  I told him that I had no headache.  He also said that my blood pressure was up more than normal but nothing to cause this.  He gave me a pill to lower my blood pressure and then a small headache started and he gave me some ib profin 800 to take that away.  I did get very tired after the pill.  It did take it away some what but came right back with a small stuffy nose.
Could this all be sinus related?   A co-worker and my husband thought I may have had a mini stroke. But had no slur words or bad balance.  Can you let me know what this can be?

Hi,
Yes some of your symptoms could be due to the sinus problem. You need to consult your physician or ENT specialist for it. I would suggest to get a CT scan of the sinuses done to know the extent of involvement. You will benefit from saline nasal drops 3 -4 times a day and steam inhalation. Ask your doctor about steroid nasal sprays - Mometasone, which are very helpful and almost offer complete recovery. You would need to take antihistaminics for a few days and also some antibiotics depending on the severity of the sinusistis. Your attacks should subside once the sinusitis is taken care of. If not they will lessen in severity and frequency and then OTC painkillers would help you with the rest. Goodluck.

Hi,
Yes i think you suffered from a migraine attack which can be brought on by looking directly at bright light. Migraine is usually preceded by n aura which is what you experienced. Sometimes aura may not be followed by a headache. Migraine is often confused with stroke.
For sinusitis i suggest you take steam inhalation and antihistaminics. Also monitor your BP regularly. Avoid bright lights wear shades.
