Tingling, numbness, weakness with migraine?

Hi,
I have migraines daily, I had never suffered from migraine up until a few years ago and there is no history of migraine in my family.

I seem to get more migraine aura than what I actually do head pain.  I have had several brain MRI on T3 machines and they are normal.

I am peri menopausal (aged 45) and did wonder if my current migraines have something to do with my hormones but they are driving me insane.  I am otherwise healthy, I am not overweight, I do not have high blood pressure or cholesrial etc. I eat a very healthy diet, low in salt and junkfood and I exercise on a regular basis.

My migraines can vary but I get burning around my bra strap, tingling in my spinal cord, elecrical like currents zapping me and tingling in my feet or numbness, like my foot has gone to sleep, I also get weakness, vertigo, like the sensation that the room is spinning, tingling in my scalp, tongue numbness and facial numbness and my eye can either twitch all day, you can physically see it twitching and numbness around the eye area or pressure behind the eye.  Obviously I don't get all these symptoms at once, but I seem to get variants of them on a regular basis, sometimes when I have a migraine I get shimmering in my eyes and I have had my face go or distorted like I have had a stroke.

The head pain is more annoying than severe, I rarely feel sick and bright light or noise doesn't seem to affect anything, movement of my head and sudden turning movements can make my vertigo and balance worse, my symptoms can last on and off for weeks, but in bursts.

Any ideas of how I can prevent these migraine from happening, as they scare me!!

Cheers,
Udkas.

I thought I should also ad that my neurologist had diagnosed me with Transverse Myelitis and migraine, but I think most of my symptoms are caused by the migraine, but my spinal MRI was normal too, but I have hyper reflexia and clonus, ataxia on neurological examination, he is certain that although MRI has not shown it that I have had an attack of TM and that I most likely have a cord lesion at T10 and possibly in my cervical?  I have a clear sensory line from my naval down .

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Migraine headaches may indeed be triggered by hormones, food, weather changes or environmental conditions. A headache journal or the migraine tracker here in the forum may help identify the trigger. Knowing the trigger will help avoid the attacks. A referral to a gynecologist may also help rule out hormonal irregularity. Aside from preventive and abortive medications, complementary and alternative medicine such as biofeedback therapy may help provide relief. Take care and regards.
