The CT only rules out some things. They can miss small tumors and issues in the back of the brain.
My app. is Tuesday, im terrified.
No one can really tell you an answer until you see the neuro I'm afriad, as you can see from my thread I was in the same boat as you. I was angry that they done a CT and not MRI but facts are it's cheaper and in an A&E enviroment it's the quickest means to evaluate patients.
Your CT was clean which rules out many nasty things which is good news.
Your appt is 8 days away right? Hang in there.
I'm still in 24/7 pain and discomfort even after the MRI, hopefully you don't have whatever it is I am suffering from.
Anyone else have an opinion?
I have to wait to see the neurologist. My GP said insurance wont cover an MRI otherwise.
I had a CT Scan at the ER but, I thin they are wrong. Im not better and that scan was almost a month ago. The ER tells me its a migraine...
CT scans can miss things and my age means nothing!!!! I dont understand why CT scans are done for head issues. They expose patients to radiations and can miss a lot of things...
Ok, so another doctor looked over my CT scan and she didnt see anything either. She said did see the pupil difference but, she wasnt concerned about the size difference because they both react to light.
Im hungry today though. Thats a good sign I think.
That's good.
Worrying constantly 24/7 does have its effects, I was like that for 6 months and still am today.
I feel slight nausea pretty much everyday. I feel hungry today though.
I had nausea most days and my appetite was very poor, the appetite has returned since the MRI came back clear so maybe it was due to stress?
How was your nausea and appetite?
Well if a MRI is the only thing that will take the fear away then that's the way to go. I really doubt they will find anything though I've the CT was clean.
A least the Neuro will give you a medication plan to try and break these headaches.
I did talk to my doctor. Thats why she is referring to a neurologist to ease my tension. She did a basic eye and neurological exam when i went in. She checked my focus in both dark and light and did some hand-eye coordination stuff along with feeling my head. She said even though one pupil dialates more, they both react to the light and dark. She seems to think the weather my be causing these severe symptoms to stick around along with anxiety. But, she said if I want an MRI, she would have to reffer me because insurance wont pay otherwise.
I had eye problems too, went for eye exam and was told they were fine and my constant state of worry was making me panic so much I was giving myself all sorts of symptoms. I had blood shot eyes for weeks on end!
Honestly your CT would show a tumour that was giving you the kind if physical symptoms you are describing. I had an ENT, Neuro and Headache Specialist all tell me the same thing but I convinced myself otherwise and paid for the MRI.
Sounds like me you are suffering from a chronic migraine/headache or NDPH. There's not really any reason for it.
Speak to your doctor and tell him your worries, maybe even get an eye exam to ease the fears too.
Stay calm I know it's hard.
Im really trying not too but, this pupil issue is what has me concerned. I was up at 3am to feed my son so I checked. I had no symptoms at the time and when I looked in the mirror they were both equal size. Im now up feeding him again, I have a mild headache and the right pupil dialates in the mirror.
Hi there,
Your story sounds similar to mine (on the main page) only my headache and symptoms are 24/7. I was told sinus to begin with then Migraine and tension headache, I got a contrast CT scan at the beggining which was normal then left in limbo for 4 months as symptoms continued.
During this time I made myself I'll thinking it had to be a brain tumor which made my symptoms ten times worse. I eventually had to go private and get a headache specialist who ordered a MRI with contrast which came back normal last week so I finally stopped worrying about a tumour. My diagnosis thus far is New Daily Persistant Headache which I'm just beggining some medications to see if I can break the headache.
I doubt you have a tumour as my Neuro said the CT scan would pick this us so please don't do what I did and worry yourself sick.
What concerns me most about my symptoms are my pupils.
I know that there are a few things that can cause unequal pupil size. I know migraines and tension headaches can cause it. I know som people can be born with it. However, I dont know how long my eye has dialated unequally because I have never paid attention.
I have searched ALL over the web with my symptoms and have my anxiety going haywire with the thought of a brain tumor. I know I had a non contrast CT brain scan done but, those dont pick up all tumors, esspecially if they are small AND When I looked at my copy of the scan, I saw a small white circle near the top of my head and when i searched ct scans online I saw some that had a small white spot and they were tumors. Im loosing my ever loving mind waiting until the 18th to see the neurologist. I just want to feel better...
