Hi
Migraine is given as a diagnosis based on a criteria. The person should experience the headaches at least 5 times. The headaches should last from 4 hours to three days. Also, the pain is unilateral and throbbing in character. Its severity may also affect daily activities. It may be associated with nausea and vomiting as well as it may be aggravated by bright lights and loud noises.
In your case, this sounds like a migraine with aura. The aura should last for less than an hour and may be followed by a headache within an hour after.
However, a migraine is only given as a diagnosis once other possible conditions have been ruled out. Let us wait for your neurologic consultation as this will be helpful in giving the right assessment.
You are only 12.Hormones, stress and diet may be contributory. Continue with your migraine journal. It will help you remember the symptom and the possible absence or presence of certain triggers. Avoid staying up too late and also avoid exposure to bright lights and loud noises. Get enough sleep and rest.
I hope this helps. For anything do update us. Have you informed your parents about this?
Also I think I should mention that my auras are as follows: lights(any kind ziping lines white and black dots weird shapes outlines of objects in the room or the room itself and they occur pretty much once or twice a day), throat closing at the top of my throat which makes me gag, numbness usually on the left side of my body once it was all over the left side of my body, sometimes getting really warm. also you should know that I am only 12 years old, the neurologist I am seeing is a pediatric neurologist, either there are no triggers to my migraines or anything is a trigger, I have been keeping a migraine journal, I have been to a normal neurologist, done an MRI, EEG,and a blood test and all she did was say that it was fine, advil, tylonol, motrin, any of those ibuprofen meds don't help my migraines when I have them, the neurologist gave me a subscription to apo-gabapentine, which gave me head aches, none of them are ever throbbing exept some that come in my neck every once in a while, and I am a girl if that is any help then that's good.
