neuromuscular

I can tell you that I have had extensive bloodwork done and the only things that werent completely normal were slightly elevated esinophils and slightly high B12. Other than that everything was within range. Liver, Renal, electrolytes, even rheumatoid? CPK, al that. I have an MRI of the brain tomm scheduled and have had a normal CT of the brain. I havent been ordered a spine MRI but will ask for one. Also I have a neuro consult and will ask for an EMG. I am petrified that it's just progressing no matter what I try to do.

Hi! Im writing to let you know I had a normal brain MRI. I am awaiting an entire spine MRI.

I had an EMG. the neurologist said that he would recommend checking blood for mythenia gravis? he didnt tell me much. he said it was not diagnositic but suspicious for neuromuscular. Not motorneuron. that's all I got from him!

he said the fasiculations may be a "red herring?"

Dear Cjo,
Too many doubts can result into false positive results in your EMG findings.
Please feel hat you are perfectly alright and nothing is wrong with you.
Start eating peanuts/butter/wheat, so that your magnesium ions concentration level rises in your body and these fasciculations/twitch will go.
Relax....
Regards.

I understand. Im getting an EMG of all 4 limbs in 2 weeks and had a brain MRI last evening. I want a spine MRI as a prior X-ray noted "thorasic superior endplate deformities" however the neurologist wanted to do an EMG first. he witnessed fasciculations and mild hyper reflexes but he did not feel I had weekness, however I do feel the weakness. I really really hope that this is just a huge amount of stress making me put these symtoms together and that there is another explaination but of course I fear the worst. no matter how much I look up it all points to ALS. I do have weakness in pelvis and shoulder girdle and twitching of my eye. those things didnt seem to stand out too much. but of course Im very scared and hoped there could be some other explaination.

Dear Cjo.
The diagnosis would be based upon the investigation results and physical examinations.
I will not be able to give a diagnosis at present as i have not examined you physically and the investigations are not able to prove any diagnosis at present.
So we will have to wait for the other pending investigations results before quantifying it.
Regards

You dont have to give me a diagnosis. Just tell me that there can be something other than ALS causing these symptoms. If something was amiss with my spine. it wouldnt cause all over fasciculations and eye problems. You didnt suggest a brain MRI which doesnt make me believe that you think it might be MS. You didnt suggest antibody testing for mysthenia gravis or thyroid function tests. and Im pretty sure I'll already know when i get the EMG results. I can see the fasciculations.

Dear Cjo33,
If all reports are normal, than we need to wait for the scan results.
Since you are already due for a CT scan of the brain, you can ask for a spine screening, if the MRI is taking time.
I will wait for your Scan results and EMG results.
Regards.
Keep me updated.
