For any of you who have titanium plates (I imagine all who have had fusion!), please take note if you begin to have any type of autoimmune syptoms - increasing joint pain, fatigue, digestive issues - along with depression, brain fog, migraines, etc. My husband had fusion 9 years ago and has been suffering with a multitude of health issues ever since. We finally had his blood tested through MELISA labs and he is sensitive to titanium. He realizes that he has been slowly poisoned by the metal. We are planning for a removal of the hardware very soon and praying that he can recover. You need to have the plates in until you are fused, but if you have any unexplained health issues after fusion surgery, you may want to be tested for metal allergy and consider having the hardware removed.
Hi!
No, this does not mean surgery. Usually herniation of disc and disc desiccation is managed conservatively with physiotherapy, exercise, manual therapy, hydrotherapy, pain killers and muscle relaxants. With time the herniated disc falls back in place. Surgery is rarely required. Take care!
