9 yo with abnormal eeg

by Loops1020, Oct 29, 2007 06:40PM
My 9 YO  had an awake state eeg done due to the fact that she has had bad migraines, loss of focus, and their is epilepsy in the family.  Two cousins - one with Grand Mal and the other with Petit Mal.  The EEG showed that impersistant 8 HZ activity intermixed with 4 HZ activity over the left hemisphere in the Alpha waves as well as occasional sharply contoured waves seen over the left hemisphere.  Also, it said that there is left hemispheric slowing C/W a focal disturbance of cerebral activity.  What does that mean in layman's terms?  I have an appointment with a neurologist and an MRI scheduled.  What happens if the MRI comes back normal?
