electric pain in neck

I have had a terrible electric shock type pain in my neck ever since I was a little girl , it can come on at any time and the pain is unbearable and it seems to be getting worse as I get older, all I can do is squeeze  my neck as tightly as possible to try and stop the pain,it can last for a few seconds or as long as a minute and after it stops I  feel so angry I could gladly hit someone and this is one of the scary things about this pain, as I am not a violent person at all ,in fact when I dont get this pain (which could be for months) I am a very calm and quiet person and it really fightens me that I can change so much after the pain. Am I the only person in the world that has this condition ? please if there is someone out there who also has exprienced something like I have described, then can you let me know how you got rid of it or how you have coped with it or had a diagnoses of what it is! thanks .

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
Sorry to hear about your agony . There are seven vertebrae that are the bony building blocks of the spine in the neck (the cervical vertebrae) that surround the spinal cord and canal. Between these vertebrae are discs, and nearby pass the nerves of the neck. Within the neck, structures include the neck muscles, arteries, veins, lymph glands, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, esophagus, larynx, and trachea. Diseases or conditions that affect any of these tissues of the neck can lead to neck pain. Investigations  of undiagnosed neck pain can include x-ray evaluation, CAT scan, bone scan, MRI scan, myelogram, and electrical tests such as electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction velocity test (NCV). Please consult a neurologist for the same . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !

Do you have the means to see a neurologist?  MRI?  This shock pain sounds nervebased.  Have you taken any type of long term medication since you were little?  Did you experience any type of injury to the head when you were little.  I had a full paint can hit my head when I was little.
