Anterior Disectomy with fusion

I am a 50 year old female who has developed severe ocular migraines over the past 3 years. I have tried 3 different preventitive medicines, physical therapy (twice), acupuncture, massage therapy and one epidural cortisone shot. None of which works. My neurologist believes they are being caused by the narrowing of my foraminal artery. I also have bone spurs and 3 bulging discs. I am scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks. I am not able to do any of things I used to enjoy. No more running, aerobics or weight training.
What I am asking is the surgery warranted???

I had my surgery in 2003 and another surgery in 2005 and now another pinched nerve n 2007. I'm still in the same pain if not worst, i had no choice for the 1st surgery because c5-c6 wa into the spinal cord after accident at work. After the surgery and in a hard collor for 4months. i had alot of trouble but the fusion was healing fine. And i had serve pain and they sent me for EMG ,NERVE BLOCKS, PAIN TREATMENT WITH NEEDLES AND THERAPY and i stil had serve pain. After my family doctor sent me for another Ct scan in 2005 they beleived me about the pinched nerve.I had c7-t1 nerve release in 11/2005. major pain releif for a short time but problems with the arm and hand and fingers. They said it could take up to a year for the nerves to reform and straighten up. Well novw over a ear i had another Ct scan and guess what (pinched nerve c7-t1) again.

I had the surgery too.  I'm significantly worse than pre-op.  It's been 18 months.  I may have another neuro problem as well but the neuro says I have spinal cord injury from the surgery....I would never do it again!!

I had an anterior two level cervical fusion 8 weeks ago and I wish I had never done it.  I have pain and numbness in both arms and hands now.  Before it was only in my right arm.  My neck and shoulders burn like fire.  I have very limited movement of my neck.  The doctor says that the post-op MRI looks great, but why don't I feel great?  I have talked to several people that has had this same surgery and they have done wonderful. I am still taking Percicet 7.5 and muscle relaxers every 4 to 6 hours.  I've been in PT for three weeks now with no relief.  I don't want to discourage you but this has turned my world up side down.  I have two small children, a six year old and a three year old and I can't even look at a book with them because I can't feel my hands or control them enough to turn the pages.  I wish you the best, and hopefully you will have wonderful results.
