Arm aches

I have arm aches that are so bad that I cannot sleep.  I have had this for a month now and I cannot get relief.  I have taken tylenol arthritis thinking that this would help but it has not.   At this point I am exhausted because of lack of sleep.  I will be going to my doctor on January 11th.  Help I need some relief.

I am having pain in both my arms for 4 days now it is constant and does not go away at all. I have tried Tylenol IB prophen 800 and muscle relaxers and nothing even takes the pain away at all. It feels like muscle cramps down both my arms with no relief. If anybody has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks

Hi.

How would you describe these arm aches? Do they feel muscular or bony in origin? Are they at the joints or elsewhere? Do they occur all the time or only at a particular time of the day, such as at nighttime? Are both arms affected? Do they feel like muscle cramps? Do the symptoms occur after any moderate to heavy activity involving the arms?

There could indeed be other causes to your symptoms, as what the other poster had mentioned, including cardiovascular conditions, muscle disorders, nerve compression, some vitamin or mineral deficiencies, or even endocrine disorders.

You could try applying cold or hot packs and see if they would work. If the symptoms appear secondary to exercise, heat, or dehydration, you could try drinking more water or electrolyte replacement drinks. Make sure you are not deficient in minerals such as calcium and magnesium by taking vitamin and mineral supplements. You can also try massaging your arms to get the blood flowing as it might help relieve some of the pain.

Hope this helps.

Make sure your doc checks your pulses in your arms.   Do your arms hurt when you work during the day or pump with your fists?   Arthritis is a good idea but there are other explanations as well.   Make sure your heart is checked out and, maybe, get dopplers to look for any abnormal blood flow into your arms.

Good luck!
