Armpit pain

One day ago I started experiencing left armpit pain..directly near the edge of my armpit near my chest.  It is intermittent at every 10 minutes lasting only a few seconds, but it is fierce and deep.  I took 2 baby aspirin an it was relieved the rest of the day.  It has started again this morning.  I am a 52 year old woman, in good health, and had a cardiac check up last summer that was good.  No cholesterol problems, In fact it is low.   I have not had injury to this arm, but do lift weights regularly.  I am wondering if nerve pain reacts intermittently like this
