Back pain one week post lumbar puncture in a child

by Ari1111, May 12, 2009 09:54AM
My 6 year old daughter was diagnosed with viral meningitis 8 days ago following a lumbar puncture and also had a negative CT scan and negative MRI. Prior to and continuing this week following the spinal tap she has headaches and fevers up to 101 F that respond to tylenol and ibuprofen were She is now complaining of severe lower back pain in the area of the spinal tap. This is the first time she has complained of back pain in addition to the headaches and fevers.
Any idea if the lumbar puncture from a 8 days ago might cause this or if there is another cause?
