Before and after brain surgery

by lilhollywood, May 10, 2008 09:25PM
So Ive been told if someone goes and has something removed from their brain, wether its a tumor or a cyst... either way after surgery they are never the same again. I wanted to get some peoples opinions on that because i woulda figured people to be relieved after gettin that thing outta their head. I understand that if there is even the slightest slip up in surgery you may have to go to rehab for a few weeks, but what do y'all think? Would you get it removed, or if its harmless would you leave it? Let me know any stories you have, thanks

And in case your wonderin, I am debatein that now because I had 1 MRI that had a 1.2cm cyst near my cerebellum, they dont know what it is and they want another MRI this week to hopefully find out whats in there. Im hoping the MRI machine messed up and theres nothing there but we know how the chances of that are. So gimme your opinion. Thanks

hi,well i had a 22mm pituitary tumor removed by a crainotomy 2yrs ago.it was about 7hrs long.the tumor was pushing on my optic nerve and was going blind in left eye. i was scared that i would forget my kids or be brain dead or something.but if i dident have the sugery i was going to die.i came out of sugery the same as i was when i went in.i even got my vision back! the only thing is i get bad headaches every day.i was relieved the tumor was gone and i could see and im no different than before i just have a crainotomy scar but my hair covers it. i had mine for 2yrs till i had to have sugery.but this is my case i had a lot of prayer behind me.and there are alot of risk of brain sugery. brainpain

About 2 months ago I also experienced horrible headaches and left eye blur. I had the ct scan, the mri with contrast dye and 2 weeks ago had a pet scan. I have something, but its really unknown what it is. A tumor is what the dr. is calling it. I had pre-op tests takes this afternoon for my surgery scheduled for Sept 9th 2008. I am having a crainotomy but I am very unaware of what will happen before, during and after the surgery. It measures about the size and shape of a half flattened egg. I'm worried about everything. How I will feel, look, just everything.
What should I be prepaired for?
Thanks alot
