Burning Pain after Horse accident

Three weeks ago I was jumping my horse and she bucked me off after the jump. I was not in the arena but on very hard dirt. I landed on my left side. I was wearing a helment but dented and scuffed my helment on the left side. Slight concussion. Lots of inflammation around my spine. But my problem is with my hip that I landed on. My severe brusing has gone. But when I fell I broke my left stirrup, I don't remember if my leg was caught or not. It felt like a hot knife went into the very top of my thigh at my hip, and for the first two weeks I used crutches because it was too painful to put pressure on my left leg, I can walk now but still have the burning pain and any adduction movement in my leg brings extreme sharp pain. My doctor said it was a torn ligament. Is this normal for a torn ligament and how long will it take to heal?

I had x-rays (no broken bones) but the Dr. felt that there was too much inflammation to be able to tell on a MRI. I am 39 years old.

Did your dr do an MRI. This would show if this is a torn ligament. Or X-rays. Possibility of a break. If it is a ligament, it may never heal fully. (Sorry, not what you wanted to hear) You don't say how old you are. It really does make a difference. I dislocated my shoulder after being bucked off in my mid 20s, and still have problems with it at age 60. You may need to see an orthopedist for further evaluation and testing, so you can get the proper treatment. The sooner the better. Please post results, am sorry to hear about your accident.
